  12. The SMC661 I/O chip is being replaced with the SMC665 I/O chip.   Serial ports 
  13. in SMC665 are 16550 compatible.
  14.  
  15. At the present time there are two ways to enable these ports as 16550:
  16.  
  17. 1.    Microsoft Windows 3.1 programs these ports automatically as 16550.
  18.  
  19. 2.    For a DOS environment, a utility (16550.EXE) is available from 
  20. American Megatrends Tech Support.  This utility, which can be downloaded from 
  21. the BBS, will enable 16550 UART support.
  22.  
  23. Two jumpers at J25 and J33 have been added to the board; these jumpers are 
  24. reserved for the future use of American Megatrends.
